Current research focus: Applications of what we know about synaptic plasticity and molecular pharmacology both to the surgical treatment of neurological disorders (e.g. Parkinson’s Disease), as well as to the prevention of neurological complications of surgery (e.g. Postoperative Cognitive Disorder). Using recently developed methods allowing for highly targeted in vivo neural stimulation and recording, and animal models of these disorders we have the ultimate goal of developing therapies for human use.
